This large format book portrays the aircraft and camouflage and markings of the various aviation arms of the Italian Regia Aeronautica. The Regia Aeronautica flew a wide range of aircraft and its machines were invariably colourfully camouflaged for tropical and over-water use and richly emblazoned with individual, tactical and unit markings, making for popular modelling subjects. The Regia Aeronautica flew in several theatres between 1940 and 1943 including France, Belgium, Yugolsavia, Russia, Greece, North Africa, and in British and Italian Somaliland and Ethiopia, and produced a number of 'aces' such as Teresio Martinoli, Franco Lucchini, Leonardo Ferrulli and Franco Bordoni-Bisleri (all of whom scored 19 kills or over). All aircraft are covered: day fighters, bombers, dive-bombers and ground-attack units and aircraft and maritime and transport aircraft. Aircraft featured will include the following: Fiat CR 32 / CR 42 biplane fighters / Fiat G.50, G.55 / the Maachi C.200, C.202 / Reggiane Re.2000, Re.2001, 2002, 2005 / Messerschmitt Bf 109, Bf 110 / Dornier 217 fighters / Ju 87 / Fiat BR.20M / Cant Z.1007 / Caproni Ca.310, 311, 314 / Savoia-Marchetti S.79, SM.81, SM.82, SIAI S.8; 4 bombers / FIAT RS.14 seaplanes. Packed with photographs and aircraft close-ups and detail, this is an ideal volume for aviation modellers, particularly all those with a specific interest in Italian aviation. |
